I actually like it.

Kinja'd!!!

In 201 horsepower, 6-speed manual guise it's basically a luxurious Civic Si. They both weigh the same too, so performance should be equal.

I think it looks great as well.

I wouldn't even call the ~$30,000 price tag ridiculous.

I drove one (automatic with the smaller engine though) as a loaner a while ago, and it was a perfectly nice little car. The only thing that felt like a punch in the gut was the price.

I'd never pay $10k more for a tarted up Civic.

Yeah, I feel like the price doesn't become really worth it until you get to the bigger 2.4L engine with the manual. I'm sure the price could be talked down a little bit though.

I used to roll my eyes every time I saw one, mostly because I was cranky that the Civic Si got de-Honda'd when they replaced the awesome "YOU WILL REV IT AND REV IT AND REV IT AND THEN YOU WILL SHIFT AND YOU WILL LOVE DOING THAT ALL THE TIME YOU SON OF A BITCH" K20 with the "maybe we should make this thing sane and livable for more normal people who don't want to wait 4 or 5 years for the engine to make usable power, which it will for half a second before it starts bouncing off the limiter, so Accord motor it is, then" K24, until I drove a current Civic Si, thought it was great, found the engine that sacrificed revs for usable torque to be a blessing and not a curse, but still thought it was too expensive for what you were getting.

I now look at the ILX and, even though it's more expensive, I consider it to be a much better buy. Paying a bit more for luxury and civility is weirdly exactly what the Si needed.

Also, that pearl white it comes in is easily one of the best whites you can get on a car these days.

The price is bad on the base model. However, and 2.4 automatically includes the Premium package or whatever its called for basically the same price as a 2.0 Prem.

Nothing wrong with topping out at 30k, but the *base* price should be cheaper.

I'd like to see the R20 with a manual transmission. Better gas mileage and easier oil changes that don't pour oil all over the axles.

They should also give us the European Civic hatchback and perhaps they can call it Acura Integra.

It's only $7k more. Which for all the nicer materials and other little things Acura does to make it nicer, it really doesn't seem like a ridiculous price increase.

Yeah, I don't understand why the smaller engine doesn't get a manual.

I think the I in ILX stands for Integra, so they could always just call it the ILX Hatchback.

Personally, I'd rather have a V6 Accord or a nice Fusion for that money.

+1. I don't see what people's beef with it is. A 94 Integra cost about the same after inflation, and everyone loved that car. This thing is not much heavier, but is a lot faster and objectively better, and everyone hates it. I don't get it.

Tons of them are manual around me too. Nice cars, I wonder how much power you can milk outta it.

I'm a washed up 21 year old ex cadillac tech who always had a thing for imports. I drive a 6MT Hyundai sonata now. I call the ILX the car I'd be driving now if i had my shit together.

I actually really like it, a lot. It's the only Acura right now that I might actually buy, given the choice. Or at lest, I would have, until this came out:

Kinja'd!!!

There's also the Mercedes CLA, which I don't think I would buy, but which is also supposed to be excellent. I'd like to see how the Acura does in a comparison test vs the Audi and the baby Benz.

I think that is the first car where the base doesn't get a manual but the higher trim does. Im so confused.

I mean, same engine as the Civic Si, probably means the same kind of modifications can be done.

I like the A3, but it just seems awkwardly tall in all the press photos. I'd have to see one in person before I judged it.

I've heard the Benz's interior is pretty cheap feeling all around. And I can't get over the melty bum.

I dunno, as of right now, the Acura has my money if I was shopping small semi-luxury sedan. (That's something I never thought I'd say)

It's the only Buick that I really don't like for some reason. Maybe because of this:

Kinja'd!!!

GRRR ANGRY CHROME EYEBROWS.

And I've read the 6-speed manual is kinda vauge and not too great.

I like the LaCrosse. Would I buy one? No, I'd get an Impala, but it makes perfect sense for the old people that still flock to Buick for big boats. And the face-lifted one doesn't look too bad.

It does make sense for old people. And the facelift is an improvement. I like the Verano better, personally. But if I were gonna get a Verano, I'd just get an Encore.

I would get a Chrysler 200, and save a ton of money (being a Eurocar fanboy, this is the first time I've been able to use that statement as an argument for my choice).

Kinja'd!!! Logansteno: Bought a VW? > sm70- why not Duesenberg?

True, you can't even get the 200 close to $40k. Plus you get that sweet Pentastar V6 and AWD. And it's a really pretty car.

I just noticed how far off course we got from the original post.

If you look at these "GM vs the world" discussions we've had, they usually get off the original topic pretty quickly.

From Acura to Audi/Mercedes/Acura to Buick Verano to Buicks in general to Chrysler 200.

That might be a new record for off course.

've said it before, and i'll say it again. This is the new Integra. It's THE EXACT SAME formula. small, sporty sedan, with comfort and reliability, but also some guts.
